Communities Connector project
The Communities Connector Project, an innovative initiative funded by SPARK and implemented by Sparda, is designed to foster empowerment and connectivity among local community actors in Chamchamal, Halabja, and Raniya. This ambitious project encompasses a variety of enriching activities, including trainings, masterclasses, seminars, events, and awareness sessions at the youth hubs.
A diverse array of participants are at the heart of this endeavor, comprising youth, parents, high school teachers, university professors, and government officials. Each of these stakeholders brings unique perspectives and contributions, creating a dynamic and multifaceted approach to community development. By engaging this broad spectrum of actors, the project aims to cultivate a robust network of informed and proactive individuals dedicated to the sustained growth and stability of their communities.

1. Youth pillar :
The youth participating in this project are empowered through one-day vocational trainings held at youth hubs in Halabja, Chamchamal, and Ranya, delivered by their peers who have been trained as Trainers of Trainers (ToT). These trainings aim to provide positive alternatives for youth, equipping them with essential skills and tools to prepare for the digital job market. Additionally, the program seeks to prevent radicalization and violent extremism, fostering a safe and prosperous future for the young generation in these regions.
2. Parents pillar :
The parents involved in this project are empowered through awareness sessions conducted at high schools by influential local figures. These sessions aim to help parents better understand the risks of radicalization and violent extremism, as well as how to identify warning signs in their children. By fostering a deeper understanding, these awareness activities also work to strengthen the relationships between teachers, parents, and students, creating a more cohesive and supportive community.
3. Teachers pillar :
High school teachers and university professors in Chamchamal, Halabja, and Raniya involved in this project will be equipped with essential skills and tools to identify early signs of radicalization among students. By doing so, they can refer at-risk students to social workers, preventing the escalation into radicalization and violent extremism. To facilitate this, safe spaces will be established at high schools and universities where students in need can attend consultation sessions, fostering a supportive and proactive educational environment.
4. Government pillar :
Through this project, Sparda will organize masterclasses for local government officials in Chamchamal, Halabja, and Raniya. These masterclasses aim to empower officials to develop local PVE (Preventing Violent Extremism) action plans, which will serve as comprehensive roadmaps for supporting youth and women in the community. By equipping local leaders with the necessary tools and knowledge, we strive to foster more secure and stable regions, ensuring a brighter future for all.
Trainings
We've delivered over 10 effective vocational training sessions, empowering local communities with valuable, real-world skills.
Participants
Over 237 participants were successfully selected for our programs, with many more expressing interest and completing applications to join.
3 Main Youth Hubs
We have three main youth hubs located in the districts of Halabja, Chamchamal, and Ranya, serving as centers for engagement and development in the region.
