Peace and Moderation Through Entrepreneurship (P & MTE)
This project will empower leaders, educators, and parents in Chamchamal, Halabja, and Ranya to develop “Preventing Violent Extremism” action plans, focusing on youth and women. It will prevent radicalization, strengthen security, and build safer, more resilient communities.
What Issue is the project seeking to address?
- Lack of economic opportunities, and future perspective make youth in Kurdistan vulnerable to radicalization and, consequently, creates social unrest, and gets into criminal activities.
- Low level of critical thinking and leadership skills among youth endangers the security and stability of the local community.
- Low level of awareness of the risks of radicalization of parents and family members in Kurdistan increases the risk that their offspring become victims of extremist groups.
What are the needs of the beneficiaries?
- Getting alternatives in form of education and economic opportunities.
- Learn how to explore job opportunities in the local community and get access to job/entrepreneurship and start their own business.
- Getting knowledge and skills on critical thinking and leadership to combat polarization and radicalization.
- Parents are in need to get a better understanding on how to deal with the challenging circumstances of their children and how to support them.

- Through providing interactive leadership skills and trainings.
- Providing interactive technical and entrepreneurship training and skills.
- Through providing coaching and mentorship support.
- Through small seed funds to start their own business.
- Through unlocking the business network throughout Kurdistan.
- Through an awareness session campaign for parents and family members to support their children and their peers.

We've delivered over 7 effective educational training sessions, empowering local communities with valuable, real-world skills.
Participants
Over 147 participants were successfully selected for our programs, with many more expressing interest and completing applications to join.

We have three main youth hubs located in the districts of Halabja, Chamchamal, and Ranya, serving as centers for engagement and development in the region.
